Re: Song bird population
there has been a sad decrease in the bullfinch the hedge sparrow the songthrush and lots small finches ?i beleave due to the exsplosion of the sparrow hawk which is just an out and out killing machine . yes farmers get the blame for lots loss.s due to farming methods but theis is not soly down to that .. but farmers dont come on my place but i see everyday the dead were hawk has had his lunch

In this part of the World, finches have decreased at an alarming rate, yellowhammers,Goldies,Linnetts were always plentiful, now its a rarity to see them, believe the corvid, especially magpies are responsible for the decrease as nestlings, with the Sparrow Hawk, which has increased dramatically being the main danger,to the ones who are fortunate enough to mature,to place a bird feeding table in the garden now,is to create a killing field for Sparrowhawks,at this rate the skies will resemble a scene from Jurrasic Park soon,NOTHING ONLY PREDATORS ON VIEW.
